How It Works

Enter your seed. Every village appears on your real overworld terrain, and the panel lists the nearest ones to the center of the map with distance, direction, type and the matching Nether coordinates.

Use the Village types filter to look only for, say, desert villages or zombie villages. Click a village for its exact coordinates.

Java and Bedrock

The terrain is the same for both editions: since 1.18 one seed gives the same overworld on Java and Bedrock.

Villages land in different spots on each edition, and the map shows the right ones for whichever you pick. I tested the Bedrock version against a real Bedrock server and it matched every village I checked. Zombie villages are marked on both.

Accuracy

Java positions are built on cubiomes, a re-implementation of Minecraft's world generator, and I checked them against worlds made by real Java and Bedrock servers. If you find one that's off, tell me in the comments with your seed and coordinates and I'll look into it.

Reference: Village Finder

Villages are the best early-game find in Minecraft: beds, food, workstations, an iron golem and villagers to trade with. Finding one quickly can save a whole first night.

Which biomes have villages?

Villages generate in plains, meadows (as plains villages), deserts, savannas, taigas and snowy plains. Each biome has its own building style and loot. Nothing else gets villages, so a map full of forest, ocean or mountains means a longer walk.

Zombie (abandoned) villages

About 2% of villages generate abandoned: cobwebs, no lights and zombie villagers instead of villagers. Curing a zombie villager with a splash potion of weakness and a golden apple gives large permanent trading discounts, which makes zombie villages worth finding on purpose.

How villages are placed

The world is split into regions of 34 by 34 chunks. Each region picks one spot at random, and a village generates there if the biome allows it. That is why villages are spread out fairly evenly but still leave gaps where the chosen spots land in the wrong biome.

How do I find a village in Minecraft?

Enter your world seed and the map shows every village with exact coordinates; the nearest ones to the center of the map are listed with distance and direction. Without the seed, look in plains, meadows, deserts, savannas, taigas and snowy plains, the only biomes villages generate in.

What types of villages are there?

Five, by biome: plains (also in meadows), desert, savanna, taiga and snowy. About 2% of villages are abandoned zombie villages, which the map labels. You can cure a zombie villager for big trading discounts.

Why are there no villages near spawn?

Villages use a grid of 34 by 34 chunk regions with at most one village per region, and only when the chosen spot is in a village biome. If spawn is in an ocean, forest or mountains, the nearest village can be well over a thousand blocks away. The list shows the closest ones within 3,000 blocks.

Does the village finder work on Bedrock?

Yes. The terrain is the same on both editions since 1.18, but Bedrock places villages its own way, so pick Bedrock and the map switches to the Bedrock positions. Zombie villages are marked on both editions.
